Pear Gruyere Grilled Cheese with Jalapeno Jam

A fresh and sophisticated take on on the beloved and timeless favorite: the grilled cheese. An added layer of sweetness from the pear, subtle spice from the jam and a nice nuttiness from the gouda that is super high flavor and really easy to create, not to mention delicious!

RECIPE

Instructions:

  • 2-3 tablespoons butter

  • 2 slices of your desired bread

  • 1-2 tablespoons jalapeno pepper jam

  • 3-4 slices of pear

  • 3 slices of gruyere

  • 2 slices of white cheddar

Ingredients:

  • Lightly butter one side of each piece of bread with butter. The buttered sides will be the outside of the sandwich.

  • Layer the pepper jam, gouda and sliced pear on the unbuttered side of one piece of bread. Top with cheddar cheese and the second slice of bread, making sure that the buttered side is facing out.

  • Heat a small skillet over medium-low heat. Melt one tablespoon of butter and add the sandwich to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until golden, then flip. Cook for another 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden.

  • Remove sandwich from heat and slice diagonally and enjoy!.
